Nearly 300 people were present under clear skies to take part in the celebration of the All Souls’ Day Mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Nov. 2.
Some of the faithful chose open seating to take advantage of Florida’s sunshine while others, below, found areas for prayer and solitude beneath moss draped shade trees.
Msgr. Robert Morris, Vicar General of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, was the celebrant for this year’s Mass with other priests of the diocese concelebrating.
Father Robert Romaine, Parochial Vicar of St. Paul’s Parish in St. Petersburg, drinks of the Precious Blood at communion.
Priests and deacons fanned out around the outdoor altar area to distribute the Blessed Sacrament during communion.
Msgr. Morris, center, leads a prayer for the repose of the souls of priests who are laid to rest adjacent to the outdoor altar.
“May their souls, and all of the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen”
