A clear blue sky and temperatures in the mid-70’s greeted nearly 300 of the faithful who attended Mass on All Souls’ Day at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Most Reverend Gregory L. Parkes was the principal celebrant at the outdoor altar with Fathers Hugh Chikawe, John Murphy, Arthur Proulx, Carlos Rojas, Viet Nguyen, Thomas Anastasia and Connor Penn concelebrating.
Bishop Parkes reminded those assembled they gathered on this day to pray for departed loved ones. “It is our faith that we know we will one day be together,” he said in his homily.
Because of the pandemic, it was a different year for sure. Seats were spaced apart and the faithful – most sporting a variety of face masks – maintained social distancing practices. Afterward, many circulated around the cemetery to visit the graves of loved ones.
